*Tribute to Comrade Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola.* It is with great honour and deep admiration that I write to pay tribute to an exceptional man — Comrade Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola In reflecting on the life and times of this enigmatic personality, I am drawn to a wealth of shared experiences, noble actions and memorable moments that define him as not just a colleague in the Nigeria Union of Teachers but a brother. While it may be impossible to fully capture the depth of his goodness, I will attempt a brief yet sincere portrait of a man, Olaomopo, whose life speaks volumes. Within the Nigeria Union of Teachers, particularly at the state wing, we have encountered individuals of strong character and commitment — men and women who embody integrity, courage and selflessness. Among these distinguished unionists, Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola stands tall. He is without doubt, a team leader of remarkable repute — bold, principled and unwavering in the pursuit of justice and the liberation of his colleagues from all forms of oppression. My encounter with him years back, began from a distance where I observed his rapid rise and seamless integration into the fold. His give-it-a-go spirit propelled him in the limelight and as I moved closer I discovered a man of great humour, humility and sincerity. His simplicity is disarming, his nearness, both in appearance and expression, very admirable and his character truly worthy of emulation. Wasiu is discerning in his relationships, painstakingly choosing his circle with wisdom. His blunt honesty paired with his sharp ability to detect insincerity, even among friends, marks him as a man of courage and clarity. I am sure these qualities have helped him in navigating challenges and achieving victory. Truly, he is a golden fish, one whose value is unmistakable. Let us go back home As we reflect further, we are reminded that every individual is a reflection of his roots. Indeed, Olaomopo is a proud and worthy product of his heritage. He embodies the virtues instilled by his upbringing — discipline, strength of character and integrity. He is a shining light in moments of darkness, a dependable son any parent would be proud of, a reliable figure every "abiyamo' would pray to have. A fearless orator, a resilient fighter and a unionist par excellence. Wasiu Aye tomorrow, ( Barrister Deacon Amao 2001 -2021) understands the game and plays it with candour, wisdom and enduring friendliness. He remains deeply connected with his roots, blending native intelligence with contemporary insights to achieve excellence while inspiring others. Fondly known as"Ita Eeeee", he is a man who speaks the truth, stands by the truth and lives out the truth. Wasiu, as I always call you and you would gladly answer, Egbon mi, today as you mark your well deserved retirement, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. May this new chapter usher into your life and home abundant joy, good tidings, robust health lasting wealth, and even greater accomplishments. Thank you for your service to humanity, your leadership and your legacy. *Comrade Ambali Ahmed Odutola.* Former STATE PUBLICITY SEC, NUT Lagos State WING.

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely express my profound gratitude for the opportunity to speak about my school teacher as he exits the civil service after 35 years of meritorious service under the Ministry of Education in Lagos State. I had the privilege of being a student of Mr. Wasiu Ayeola between 1992 and 1994, during which he taught me Agricultural Science. Those formative years under his guidance played a significant role in shaping my academic discipline and outlook on life. One of my most memorable moments with Mr. Ayeola occurred outside the classroom. It was the day I came to collect my WAEC result and met him in the staff room. In the presence of his colleagues, he proudly announced that I had earned an A1 in Agricultural Science, his subject. He personally revealed my result to me, and I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. That moment remains unforgettable, not just because of the grade, but because of the pride my teacher took in my success. It reinforced my confidence and inspired me to aim even higher in life The values I learned from him are enduring and continue to guide me to this day. He exemplified dedication, discipline, passion, and excellence. He was highly knowledgeable, articulate, and methodical in his teaching. He never missed classes and ensured that every lesson was impactful and well understood. Beyond academics, he instilled in us the importance of hard work, integrity, consistency, and self-belief. Though approachable and occasionally jovial, he maintained a strong sense of discipline that commanded respect and encouraged seriousness among his students. His influence on my academic and professional journey can not be overstated. Many of his admirable qualities became a template for my own personal development. Inspired by his example, I remained committed to excellence, which has translated into tangible achievements. Academically, I am currently at the final stage of my PhD. In Housing and Urban Development at Lagos State University. Professionally, his mentorship and the values he instilled in me have helped me secure and excel in roles within reputable organizations such as AIICO Insurance Plc, Conoil Producing Ltd, and Globacom Nigeria Ltd. In the political sphere, he has also remained a mentor and leader whose guidance I deeply value. What truly distinguished Mr. Ayeola from other teachers was his sense of purpose, focus, and unwavering commitment to student success. He did not just teach subjects; he built lives. He understood the power of education as a tool for transformation and was intentional about nurturing future leaders. His leadership qualities, foresight, and ability to inspire made him not just a teacher but a role model and a nation builder. *Additional Reflection:* Mr. Ayeola and his wife, Mrs Olajumoke were my favorite teachers at Ibeju High School. While he taught me Agricultural Science, his wife taught me Geography. It is no coincidence that I later pursued a career path rooted in geography and urban planning. I obtained my first degree in geography and urban planning with a Second Class Upper Division, and I further earned a second degree in transport geography and housing and urban planning with merit. Today, I am at the stage of defending my PhD. Thesis in housing and urban development. This academic journey is a direct reflection of the solid foundation laid by my teachers. In a time when many of my peers lost direction, I remained focused, guided by the principles instilled in me by dedicated educators like Mr. Ayeola. His legacy lives not just in his years of service but in the lives he has transformed, including mine. ? Sir, while I may not yet have fully expressed my appreciation in tangible terms, I carry a deep sense of gratitude and a strong desire to give back in the future. I am confident that the day of appreciation and reward is drawing closer. I am, and will always remain, one of your proud products, any time, any day. Thank you very much, sir. *felicitation in Honour of Comrade Olaomopo Wasiu Ayeola an Indomitable Unionist and Erudite Administrator of Distinction.* It is often said that words, though potent, sometimes fall short in capturing the true essence of a life devoted to purpose. Such is the difficulty I encounter in paying tribute to Comrade Olaomopo Wasiu Ayeolaa man whose journey through unionism and Public Service reflects courage, intellect, and unwavering conviction. In an age where compromise is commonplace, he has stood firmunyielding in principle, resolute in action, and guided by a deep sense of justice. He is not merely a force of resistance, but a builder of solutions in the face of complex human challenges. To know him is to understand a man who rejects narrow sentiments of tribe, religion, or prejudice, choosing instead the higher path of fairness, truth, and collective progress. His voice has never wavered in speaking truth to power, and his integrity has remained a constant standard in a changing world. Men of questionable character often find no comfort in his presence, for he embodies accountability and moral clarity. As he transitions into retirement, it is not an end, but a continuation of impact in another form. For a life anchored in purpose does not retireit evolves. May your name continue to open doors of honour and opportunity for you, your family, and generations to come. May your wisdom remain a guiding light, and your legacy an enduring inspiration. *Enjoy a well-deserved retirement, even as you continue to inspire and lead in new dimensions.* Signed, *Comrade Olusola Israel Abe.* Former Officer, NUT Lagos State Wing.

_A Tribute to a Rare Leader, A True Father: High Chief Wasiu. Olaomo Ayeola._ There are bosses There are leaders And then, there are rare souls like you the kind that time does not easily replace. Sir, today is not just about your retirement. It is about celebrating a life that has quietly, yet powerfully, shaped other lives. Some people build careers. You built people. Some give instructions. You gave direction and purpose. Some occupy positions. You filled a space in our lives that no title can fully describe. You saw potential where we saw limitations. You spoke strength into us when we felt unsure. You corrected usnot to break us, but to refine us. And somehow, in the midst of responsibilities and expectations, You still chose to care genuinely, deeply, and consistently. That is rare. Very rare. For me, Sir, you have been more than a boss. You have been a fatherin wisdom, in patience, and in guidance. The kind of father who doesn't just show the road, but walks beside you until you find your steps. Your legacy will not only be written in records or achievements. It will live in us in the confidence you built, in the values you planted, and in the lives you quietly transformed. Even as you step away from this office, you are not stepping away from impact. Because men like you do not retire They echo. In our decisions. In our character. In the way we will someday lead others. Today, we do not say goodbye. We say thank you. Thank you for being firm, yet kind. Thank you for leading, yet listening. *Tribute to My Brother, High Chief W.O. Ayeola.* Our friendship dated back to the year 1997a bond built on trust, loyalty, and a shared vision. Together, we established Club 2000, a formidable force that has left an indelible mark on the sound of soil in our territory. I vividly recall your emergence as the Branch Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki despite all odds. You stood firm and resolute. Though I did not fully enjoy the experience of having a two term tenure as the Branch chairman at that time because it was perceived as mission impossible in our Branch at that time. You broke the record with the support of everyone of us and your emergence was a clear demonstration that you are true-to-nature personalityfair, unbiased, and steadfastmade it possible. I enjoyed your undiluted loyalty while in office till this date. Your tenure as the first two terms Branch Chairman opened countless opportunities for the union at the Branch, State, and National Levels. During my Administration, we secured a proposed land for the NUT Secretariat, which you eventually completed during your second term as Branch Chairman. Indeed, this stands as a testament that great minds achieve great things. I cannot forget the significant role played by your late brother, Comrade Abdulkabeer Abayomi Ayeola (MHR), whose timely intervention brought understanding and led you to accept the position of Deputy Chairmana step that revealed your charismatic leadership qualities. In the midst of a tough and fiercely contested election, you stood strong, contested with courage, and emerged victorious as Chairmana true testament to your resilience and leadership traits. You are a man whose legacy within the NUT speaks volumes. A leader to be reckoned withnot only for your strength but for your humility and compassion. Your philanthropic nature, your down-to-earth personality, and your charming disposition have touched countless lives. Younger teachers have looked up to you as a mentor and guide, inspired by the care and passion you took to every classroom. It is remarkable that the son of a fisherman could impact so many lives with wisdom and integrity. Your influence reaches beyond textbooks, living on in every student, every teacher, and every family you have touched. As your child, seeing your impact is humbling. I am proud to call you my father and to celebrate a life that has made teaching not just a profession, but a calling. Congratulations, Daddy. I love you, and I am proud of you. Your daughter, Adedolapo Ayeola

Writing this feels so emotional for me, but also deeply fulfilling. To witness your retirement is something I don't take for granted, and I'm incredibly grateful to be here for this moment. Daddy, you are one of the smartest people I have ever known. Not just in knowledge, but in wisdom, in how you've carried yourself through life, and in the way you've guided and provided for us. Your strength, discipline, and consistency have shaped so much of who I am today. May your retirement be filled with tranquility, joyful moments, and continued service to Allah SWT and humanity, and May Jannatul Firdaus be your ultimate reward, Ameen. As you step into this new chapter, I pray that Allah keeps us all together in good health, peace, and happiness. I also pray that I am able to do even more for you than you have ever done for mebecause you deserve that and so much more. I can't wait to spoil you and give back in ways that truly reflect all you've poured into my life. I pray that you witness the beautiful moments you have always dreamed of with me, and that you live to see me succeed and make you proud in every way. Thank you for everything; for the sacrifices you made, the lessons you taught, and the love you've always shown, even in the quiet ways. Being your daughter is such an honor. I'm so proud to call you my father, and even prouder to celebrate with you today and always. I love you, Daddy. Congratulations on your retirement. Your daughter, Adefolakemi Ayeola

A Tribute to High Chief and Comrade Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola. It has been a true honor working under your guidance. As a very young lady coming into the service, very young, with the fear of what is ahead in the profession I have been appointed to. Your warm welcome being my first assumption built so much morale and confidence in me. You are not just a boss, you are a father, cause you treated me just like how my father does. Thank you! Your kind and warm spirit while you addressed me when I resumed duty, helped my soul to be calm and navigate the profession properly. The work environment under your leadership was serene. No laziness, get the job done, but it was never under pressure or distress. You have not only been a fantastic leader and boss, you are a true mentor. I have worked with different administrators after you and one thing I learnt so far is "the job can be less stressful or more stressful, depending on who is leading". Thank you for making the work environment one we looked up to come to and not the fear of what are we going to face today. Wishing you a wonderful, real and well-deserved retirement. Congratulations Comrade Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola, you have been a wonderful boss one can never neglect, cause you are not just kind, you have the best of everyone at heart. Thank you for teaching me that even mistakes are lessons, even when your corrections sometimes seems hard to me you will say, "*bi civil service se ri ni yen o* — you need to know how to properly work with everyone and manage people — you will still meet a lot of people in this service." Your mentorship has been invaluable and I am so greatly to have worked with you. Knowing you is a privilege, working under your leadership is an honor. Congratulations on your retirement, the best is yet to come. May God continue to guard and guide you, May he keep you safe, May God bless you and everything that concerns you. With long life God will preserve you. Your name can never be forgotten!

I am honored and delighted to write this in your recognition, Cmrd Ayeola Wasiu Olaomopo. Beyond being a visionary and accomplished leader as the Principal of Ibeju Junior High School, you are forthright, intelligent, sincere, and principled. I will never forget the role you played in representing and defending me at the District when it became evident that the leadership at the time intended to remove me as Principal of Ogunmodede Senior College, Papa Epe. This was not due to any failure in my duties, but rather an unfair insinuation regarding seniority among principals. You, along with a few others, stood firmly in my defense, insisting that my removal would negatively affect the discipline and stability of the school. Because of your courage and integrity, I was retained, and I later became well regarded by the then TG/PS. You may have forgotten this, but I never will. Your support meant so much, and it remains deeply appreciated. You are truly a wonderful, loyal, reliable, and responsible individual. As you retire, I wish you lasting peace, joy, and the fulfillment that comes from a life of meaningful service. You have truly earned it, sir.

Tribute to a Man of Valor: Alhaji comrade Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola The news of your Pen Down Ceremony ignited a reflection of a Man of Courage, Bold, Articulate and a Honest Leader of our time! Considering your journey through life I can simply put it in this way *"Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola KO SE TERI"* A highly principled man, rugged, militant but reasonable! I salute you sir. One thing that I cannot forget easily about you is your advice and pressure on me to build a house in EPE as a legacy. What a good friend and brother? No matter the adversaries of your enemies, you shall continue to triumph in Allah's Name. Welcome on board to the Club of Senior Citizens. Rest is sweet after Labour.

Goodwill Message for Comrade Ayeola. You're more than a guiding light who navigated the classroom with grace, patience, and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds. You're also a tireless warrior in the struggle for the dignity of teaching profession. You're calm, but not a weakling — a curious, critical thinker, and a silent strategist who is strongly committed to collective action and the necessity of integrity in leadership. Words flow out of you simply, but steely transmitting the import of desired action. The best of your life just began...
